GrumpyFILMS, Inc

Many people ask, "So why are you so grumpy?"

Simply put, we are grumpy with complacency. With the number of modes and avenues of media multiplying so quickly in our culture today, we are grumpy that the prevalent mode of creativity continues to be characterized by a lack thereof.

We are frustrated by the mistaken belief that our audience will accept the same old thing, repackaged and re-titled, but just as boring as last time. But, we are excited by the opportunity to tell a new story. We brighten when we are able to collaborate with another artist...another creative being. We virtually vibrate when in the presence of good story, great talent, and innovative production.

It is the simple, basic elements of storytelling that continue to work and delight. GrumpyFILMS strives for a return to these basics.

Daniel Sears, Creative Director
daniel@grumpyfilms.net
Daniel's artistic appreciations run the gamut from a silly slapstick classic to the dense puzzle of a Symbolist play. He studied the latter in college before moving to Chicago, where he worked for six years with Will Act For Food Theater Company, producing, directing, designing, and acting in a series of storefront theater productions, all produced on a dime. While in Chicago, Daniel also began a six-year run of working in production for a series of advertising agencies both there and in New York, broadening his production talents across radio, television, and new media projects. All of this experience has contributed to his current approach to creative work: the idea is the thing, and it doesn't necessarily need a huge budget to be given huge creative life.
